Have you heard of a serpentine belt in Toyota Rav4?

During an oil vary, I was told to replace the serpentine belt in my 6 yr. old Toyota Rav 4. I haven't had the money; therefore, I have not replaced it yet. I have already driven additional 3,000 miles and nothing is extraordinarily going on with my car. Should I worry about the belt or the mechanic just wanted to cheat me?

Yes you do have a labyrinthine belt. It powers all the accessories like power steering, charging system, air conditioning, etc. Whether you actually want a belt depends on how worn it is. All serpentine belts get cracks in the ribs as they age. That alone is not a reason to change them. But if you have cracks in 3 or more ribs in a 1-inch extent, then you're driving on borrowed time.

If it breaks, you lose power steering, charging, and a/c. A tow will cost far more than the band replacement. AND, you WILL have to replace it eventually.

Well you want your belt for your car to run because it powers other things under the hood,

Have a friend that knows something about cars look at it, if its cracked or missing pieces on it, its a singular that it needs replacing.

Replacing it will avoid a breakdown when the belt snaps

If it snaps, you will lose power steering and steering position will get hard to turn and your engine might shut off, because the alternator wont be running anymore to supply power to the electrify plugs and battery

So yeah, it'll run, but have a friend look at it as soon as possible

In case it snaps, use your brakes and hazard lights and back out a demolish over to the nearest shopping center or the edge of the road and call a tow truck or a friend to fix it.

I am so penitential that you have to wonder if a mechanic is trying to cheat you. Please let me try to help with that feeling. I am an ASE certified master tech and also an ASE certified L1 advanced tech. I have been doing this for 30 years and it in effect troubles me that so many people worry so much that they are getting ripped off by an underhanded mechanic.

The truth is in 30 years and working with a lot of people, I have never honestly met a professional that intentionally intended to rip someone off, most really want to help. The problem is that 90 percent of the people in the trade today are incompetent. They really don't know much more than you do but their foolish pride gets in the way and they screw something up. Then the customer that trusted them feels they got ripped off.

When someone in ear-splitting school gets in lots of trouble they get stuck in auto shop and it all starts there. Most of those people can't even pore over much less comprehend what they are trying to read. The repair industry is a mess and the consumer has to pay the price of incompetence.

When you look for a shop don't go to a quickie lube prosper, find a real auto shop that employs ASE certified mechanics that have proved what they can do, and don't listen to the ding dongs that say it doesn't purport on paper because it does. You can't even get ASE certified unless you can prove you have the hands on experience, and ASE is very strict about that. The ding dongs that utter you different don't even know that because they are part of the problem.

As far as the belt is concerned, it can be pricey but should be a simple repair and could leave you stranded if something goes unjust. Get it taken care of, and not at a quick lube joint, a pretty smart friend could do that one or have a real ASE seek take care of it and build a trusting relationship with them. Ask around to see if people have had a good experience somewhere and try them. Although it can be expensive in the long run it is well benefit it to have a shop you trust that knows your vehicle and its history. Price shopping will end up leaving you stranded a lot more often and thats not importance it. Be late to many times or not show and your fired.

And look at this other post about just what I was talking about.

The incompetence is overwhelming. Cars today are spiral upwards science and have enough strands of wire in them to reach the moon. They are more complicated than the rockets that put people on the moon and the ding dongs are destroying the trade for their own personal pride.

diabolical belt is the glorified name for the "Fan Belt" no longer used for the fan so they gave it a new name.

Is the Toyota RAV4 a woman's car?

how much will it cost to replace my rear car door?

i got rear end ended the other day and my rear door on my car wont open and has a pretty good dent in the right side of it. its a 2003 toyota rav4. will i have to get the door replaced and if so how much does it all things considered cost and if i dont have to get it replaced how much will it cost to get the dent out?
i have insurance and the fault was determined to be 100% the other persons shortcoming but in nys you have to fill out a form if the damage done to one car involved in an accident is over $1000 within 10 days or my license is revoked so im wondering if i should start padding out the information now or not even bother.

The guaranty agent is supposed to fill out that form for you. Call you agent and find out if they have done so. Since the other driver was at fault, they may not have done so, and they can tell you how to do it yourself.

You need to go to 3 body shops and submit 3 new estimates. If you have collision on your policy, you can have your insurance fix it, and they will get repaid by the other guys insurance. If you do not have collision, you will have to hound the other guys assurance yourself, and they will drag their feet about paying you off, hoping that you will get frustrated enough to throw up your hands and say forget it. But they are legally obligated to pay, and if they havent done so in 6 weeks, you may file a assert for damages, loss of vehicle use, and whatever else is permitted in your state. Remind them of that on week 4 or 5.

Once you are paid from those estimates, you may take it to any reckon you wan to have it fixed. You can drive it dented if you want. You can go to a salvage yard and find another door, and drive it that way. However, those estimates are very powerful as they will determine if there is any more damage other than the door that you cant see.

HOW MUCH SHOULD I SELL MY CAR FOR?

My car is a 2003 Toyota Rav4 Meagre, 98000km. very good condition, it has everything, leather seats, sun roof, step bar, crossing rail ,etc, and a very good seem system(cost me thousands of $). Tires are all new.
Never involved in accident. I'm willing to sell it now, Toyota would do a trade in for 10000. Is it too low? Coz it expense me more than 43000 when i bought it new. Or i should try to sell it somewhere else? How much does it worth? And what is the better way to sell it? to the dealer or sell it myself(i'm rueful it will take too long)? I'm so dump with cars, anyone could help me? ps. i live in Montreal, Canada.
I really love my car, but i have to get a new one, My second-best boy is coming next month, Rav4 is not big enough for the whole family. i need a 7 seats.

anyone know how to fix my car?

i recently purchased a 1998 toyota rav4, and the timing area is due to be changed. in order to save myself some money, i'm going to try to do this myself. if anyone could give me explicit instructions, a how-to website, or tips, that would be bad. thank you so much, i am way out of my element here.
any tips that you can give me, if i decide to do this myself anyway? i will see what i can do about taking it to a mechanic, but i don't want to give up just yet.
hey, easy, people. it's my car; if i fall short of to fix it myself i will. i will take your advice into account, but all i'm asking for now is tips. please don't give me crap about how unqualified i am.

I'm not usual to be like the others you can fix it your self buy a good repair manuel and follow it to the letter you will also need to rent or buy some tools for your present and finally take a digital camera and take pictures before you take it apart just in case you don't have a diagram or understand the manuel unequivocally as they can be a little complicated double check your work as if done incorrectly damage can be done lots of luck

What can cause an air fuel ratio sensor to keep going bad in a 1998 Toyota Rav4?

I have had this car for about 5 years now, and the air inflame ratio sensor has needed replacement 3 times already. The car felt very jerky the first time, so I took it to Toyota where they found the predicament and they replaced it. Then about 6 months ago, I was trying to pass my CA emissions test and failed because the sensor was bad again. It was replaced a assign time. Yesterday my check engine light came on, and today Toyota diagnosed it as a bad air fuel relationship sensor again. This is the third time. What can make this continuously happen?? It is $600 each time for replacement, and I am losing my concentration. Please help!

2013 Toyota RAV4 Spy Photos - Future Cars

What It Is: An extensively camouflaged prototype of the next-generation Toyota RAV4 compact crossover, the current version of which debuted in 2006. The RAV4 was mildly refreshed for 2009 , but it’s ripe for a redesign. These spy photos show that the next RAV4 is going to change quite a bit from its current form and move closer to the crossover mainstream.

Why It Matters: The compact-crossover segment is a cash cow, and despite its age, the RAV4 still is one of the more popular offerings out there. When the RAV4 first went on sale in the U.S. in 1996, it was a quirky little SUV powered by a tiny four-cylinder engine. Each successive generation of the RAV4, however, has grown larger and heavier. The contemporary RAV4 can be had with a hairy-chested 3.5-liter V-6 that puts out 269 hp, and a third row of seats is available. The next iteration of the crossover, however, will need to compete with the new Ford Escape , the Mazda CX-5 , as well as the venerable Honda CR-V . That means it will need to retain a roomy cabin but deliver the fuel economy buyers facing down $4-a-gallon gasoline expect.
