The Subic Freeport Zone became the mecca of gear heads and speedfreaks on that weekend the nation marked the 26th anniversary of the People Power at Edsa. Subic roared to life with the rumble of a hundred race-ready and exotic cars rocking its very foundation. Race enthusiasts and autocollerctors converged for Autoindustriya’s inaugural Speedfest, a two-day fast-and-furious inspired motoring held Feb. 25-Feb. 26 at the Subic Airport runway.
‘This event will usher in the motorsport 2012 season and it aims to promote camaraderie among competing speed shops,” said Brent Co, editor-in-chief and the brains behind Autoindustriya. With nearly a thousand enthusiasts and spectators in attendance, car shops from around the country put their best foot forward as they competed for top honors in four categories: drifting, gymkhana, quartermile-drag race and the highly coveted high speed mile run, which saw poster cars burning rubber at the Subic Airport runway. “We really wanted to bring together some of the country’s wildest machines on four wheels for a weekend of high octane action,” Co said.
