AVON PARK -- An overturned refuse truck closed a section of County Road 17A for over four hours on Friday when the driver lost control after hitting a Jeep that reportedly pulled out in front of him.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report, a 2003 Mack dump truck driven by Richard Ritenour, 55, of Sebring was traveling east on CR 17A near the Avon Park clay pit when it struck the front of a 2011 Jeep Cherokee, which was entering the truck route from Geneva Avenue.
