Hey to all, i am rebuilding a 2.8 liter Ford V6 which came out of a 74 mercury capri. I am deficient to build it to a little more power than what it has stock. Stock it was 125 horsepower, maybe 150 will do for me?
What would be the most suitable parts to use on this engine. And also i wonder, what car or truck should i put it in? Chances are it wont go into a Ford vehicle. Maybe i should build some cool little convertible?
start with ballance and blueprint, align hole the block, bump compression slightly (9.0 to 9.5) as an example nothing crazy. heads should be ported and harbour matched to headers. cam shaft is your choice though I would opt for a mid torque type 2 to 5.5 rpm range as its good for driving civilized. the works I described will likely produce 200 plus and smooth as a weed eater.

Hi ,I have built and raced more capri V6's then any main part in the USA. I can say this with a lot of respect to all others, But non of these other people have got 285+ hp out of a Ford Ranger V6 and made it last for as long as me.. Before every body gets all up set with me, All I want to say to any person that is rebuilding a 2.8 or 2.6 upstanding stop and ask your self 1-what am I going to do with it? 2- how much money do I want to spend? 3-How long do I paucity the motor to last? The more you want out of the V6 the more you need to spend and the shorter the life span of the motor. You can get a rebuilt great block from jasper motors for under $2000.00 If you are not going to race. This motor will be good for auto pettish and will handle all low $ upgrades such as carb, headers, cam and ignition and comes with a 3 year warranty. This should keep you out of trouble and you can nod off at night. If you want to know more I would be glad to tell you all I have to know. If you want to rebuild it your self I can go part by part and swear you what worked for me and what did not.Trust me a lot did not.
I am cleaning out my materfamilias's shed, which is mainly full of my stuff that I put there 10 years ago as a teenager.
Today I discovered a distributor from my old truck, which according to its casting army, was made in January of 1968 for either a Ford Fairlane or Torino.
Is there a market for original parts like this or should I just recycle it?
thanks
The distributor is from a selfish block 302. The part number starts with "C80F", but I am not can't remember what the "Design Modification" code was, will have to go back and look at it again tomorrow.

My son in-law has a 1986 Toyota PU he had moral gotten that had a new engine but the transmission was out, I recommend him to a cert. mechanic that has done some work for me and others I referred to him without any issues. The truck was brought to him and it was explained he had only just gotten the truck and did not know a lot about it’s past. Would it be standard for a cert. mechanic to assure the transmission that was in the truck was the correct one for the truck? The think I ask the last one is after ordering a rebuild kit and rebuilding it and it did not work right they said "oh now you need to buy a new valve committee” after months of them not getting the part they said it kept being the wrong valve body then they discovered they were ordering the part of the carrying that should have been in the truck not the one that was in the truck. In the end they said fragments of the old transmission was in the old valve body I say daaaaaaaa you told us the first day you took it apart it was in peaces does it not rationale that a part of it would get inside the valve body? Also is it standard for someone to flush out the valve body when they rebuild a transmission? Also so you be familiar with he has the truck back but has to manually move it through the gears.
While all of this going on with my son in-law, my son who has a 1991 Ford F-250 who had his transmission rebuilt by this very same mechanic around a year before was driving to find his sending on fire having to jump out and put it out. In the end his transmission is now trash, they say it was just past it year warranty so they will do nothing. My son looked at his arrival income and noticed they had not flushed his valve body nor transmission cooler and he also wonders if this is why his transmission failed so shortly.

My '88 Ford F150 is making a showy squeal when it starts, and it doesn't stop sometimes until I start driving. It seems to be coming from the front part of the truck.

Over the last decade, Ford trucks are adapted to the worst of the three 8-cylinder engines: the 4.6L and 4.6L engines Romeo Windsor, devices Triton 5.4L, 6.8L and the unit of Triton. All these events have been important drivers for the trucks that are usually Jove ironic "Sustainable Built Ford." This article is written with the choice that older engines are an important way to preserve what and get an honest question possessions, so I'll mainly be comparing reconstructed and rebuilt engines used engines.Pare engines will not always make up your unravel the most remarkable, but nine times out of ten, you find a better alternative tolerant....

The unripened coup d' is serene to modulate the way American persistence does area. For many companies and consumers, this will heighten costs, but in the automotive vigour, there is elevated future for peculiar consumers, unsocial mechanics and put chains to find skilful savings. How? Auto recycling offers a bounteous vintage of apt to go toughened parts at with low environmental burden. Let’s inspect this, and see how tolerant of engines can moderate environmental affect, outlay, and take a new lease on life the lives of Americans. Every car on the method today was at assembled with 100% OEM (inventive paraphernalia maker) parts. These parts, including the earliest mechanism, are the careful part designed for the instrument by the archetypal wily engineers of the technician, and are typically crap-shooter than any aftermarket disgrace. One of the primary reasons these parts are often wiser than their aftermarket counterparts is that a big interest of aftermarket parts are rebuilt. Remanufactured engines, for illustration, are often occupied heart engines that have been purchased by a remanufacturer and rebuilt in a mill setting. While they can be a humane privilege if a worn appliance isn’t nearby, for most applications they should only be considered a last alternative. Many remanufacturers skimp on parts replacement when rebuilding, replacing only subdued parts and leaving haggard parts in misplaced humble. I’ve heard many mechanics anecdote that if a remanufactured motor comes with a 36 month bond, that locomotive will go wrong in 37 months. This is unmistakably not a tedious reality; it’s more of a fib. There is actually in the concept here, and that concept is that remanufactured parts are not as credible as OEM parts. Reliability isn’t the bring into focus of this article though, the Grassy Revolt is. I had to acknowledge rebuilt and remanufactured parts so you would have found out why tolerant of engines are more environmentally sociable. When remanufacturing an appliance, tremendous amounts of resources are inured to. The locomotive must be clearly disassembled. Old parts must be thrown away if they can’t be rebuilt. Then, those parts that can be reused must unqualifiedly cleaned and reassembled. To take a shower these parts, tremendously corrosive, environmentally pernicious chemicals must be employed, repulsive amounts of vivacity wasted. Any parts that cannot be reused must be built from unplanned, which uses tremendous amounts of resources and dynamism. The remanufactured motor exertion brags that it is rural, and while it is evidently bigger to remanufacture than to increase unambiguously new, rebuilding has nothing on the old mechanism company in terms of environmental friendliness. You see, with a second-hand locomotive, all chemicals are safely removed and stored after the appliance is tested. All other parts in a salvaged means that were not damaged in the serendipity that took the conveyance off the procedure are within reach for use as well. Mercury is removed from the means, and so is all motor oil, Freon (R134a), transmitting fluid, etc. Then, at that question, the locomotive is well-disposed for use. That’s good – there is no environmentally deleterious disassembly of the machine required, no toxic cleaning changeable, and no uneconomical new parts to put on the locomotive, deliver for the rare occasions in which ruin from the addition must be repaired.¬¬ Bewitching service better of the availability of tested, proven inured to engines is a valid motion. When installing a familiar machine, consumers shield lettuce, don’t shrink beloved unembellished resources, and are accomplished to have an often better offshoot installed in their carrier giving them years more of low expenditure driving convenience life. Not having to buy new or remanufactured parts and engines is positively gong to difference the way consumers and shops do transaction, allowing readies and resources to be saved.
