I bought a 1995 ford ranger. 4R55 auto tranny. The forwarding seems to be stuck in drive throughout all gear selections. will only move forward. even in park, reverse and neutral it seems to be in drive. I drove this traffic home 100 miles and got the transmission to even go into overdrive. But as soon as I parked it, it went back to the same problem. No garden, reverse or neutral, just drive in all selections.
the shift cable is working and seems to be cycling at the dispatching. when hot the transmission seems to be building pressure releasing fliud at the vent tube
I would restraint your linkages and make sure nothings bent or loose. Maybe you have a clogged filter or debris in the valve committee. Is the trans over filled?

necessary to get it rebuild had same problem on explorer
internal clutch disc burn so bad that every thing was seize i had to rebuild it on mine disc and disc drum gone

The four swing drive is not engaging. We replaced the actuator and we can hear it trying to engage but it still isnt working. It has an exciting switch to engage it. The truck is a 1993 ford ranger. How or where can I find out how to take it apart or fix it? Thanks

Is there any calibration on the clutch to relief pressure or feel like it's
hung up to cause slipping on the engagement? Variety new clutch, when hot the clutch will lose grip on the friction plates. When it cooled off....It's good again.

Nothing that we must seek. Fords like to eat EGR components therefore seek CEL. If it fails, luckily all the components are lower and access nonchalantly. Otherwise, trucks, they are enthusiastic.
