What would be the approximate cost to replace a head gasket on a '91 Ford Explorer?

Recently my car has starting overheating usually and quickly. I check the radiator frequently to make sure it's full, but it overheats anyway. To make matters worse, the car has begun smoking and with one foot in the grave while I'm driving. I don't want to completely destroy my engine, and from what I've read online it sounds like it's a blown prevent gasket. About how much would it cost to fix this situation (parts and labor)? This is my only mode of transportation so I really for to get it taken care of. The car is a '91 Ford Explorer, 2 wheel drive, 6 cylinders. Thanks in get ahead for any help!

Alright, here we go... As bad as it sounds you will be spending anywhere between $600 to $1000. Labor should run you anywhere around $400.00. the be lodged will be parts. maybe another $250 to do a valve job on the heads. $150 foe a head gasket set. You're already at $800. Take it to a seek, keep in mind it's nearly impossible to have a accurate diagnostic just by simply performing a pressure evaluate.

well most of the age if you got a blown head gasket you will loose some water are you ?but the smoking is it black or white ,any way i wouldnt pay more them 375 for all if thats the only trend wrong.the shop should do a compresser test first that will tell what side it is and if thats what it is,or can be a creak head to or block.disclose them to do a compresser test first that way they might say she knows alittle we might not can do her dirty.... good luck

undervalue that idiotic first answer 375 will only get the intake gasket replaced if you dont work on cars or never have stfu with feather-headed answers. if the head gasket is blown you wont get it fixed for less than 500 thats assuming no heads are cracked. if you suspected the heads are cracked then you should stop driving it NOW. the easiest way to check is to check the color of the oil on your dipstick

buy a new rig

a lot
