HOW DO I INCREASE GAS EFFICIENCY? ? ? ?
ok i have a 2007 honda Accordance COUPE that has a 4 CYLINDER engine and AUTOMATIC transmission. i want to know what parts or modifications i should do to the car to expand GAS EFFICIENCY even though it is already pretty good on gas. or are there any tips i can get to drive with wasting less gas???? any insight will help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I for one's part wouldn't know what you could do on a newer car like that because everything is computer controlled. The only thing I can think of is have a mechanic adjust some of the controls.
Well, you already bought one of the more exacerbate efficient vehicles you can get. One common way to get better mileage is to reduce air restrictions going into and coming out of the motor. So, aftermarket air intakes and exhaust systems can help with this, at the expense of the parts themselves (which probably will cost more than the gas you shield) as well as being another annoying person with a loud exhaust on a 4-cylinder engine. As far as driving, basically you should just accelerate slowly, at the expense of getting to your stopping-place slower and pissing off the drivers behind you. Lots of crazy hippies will talk about stuff like pulsing and gliding, this is honestly just a way to induce road rage on other drivers and get yourself shot at. Stick to the basics: accelerate slower, preserve a slower speed, pace your car to avoid stopping at lights, and take your time to get to your destination.
push slower, coast when you can. gas saving gimmicks don't work, and when they do they cost what they save, although, i did see an aircleaner mod. turbo something or other that looked reassuring at advanced auto..... about 89 dollars or such.
I'm guessing you are driving an inescapable transmission one.
Several things you can do:
1.) Save on weight - look in your trunk and take out EVERYTHING that is not a must.

or right-minded get a AAA membership.
2.) Easy on acceleration - try to refrain from accelerating hard coming out of stop lights or finish signs - It reduces gas efficiency tremendously.
3.) Be consistent - use the "Cruise Control" selection in your car whenever you have a chance. It will take the minimum amount of gas to keep you in the speed you want + it will cancel the need for excessive lane changing.
4.) Dream up sure your tire pressure is correct. (you can also overinflate your tires to reduce resistance, but it is HIGHLY inadvisable - not protected and will shorten your tire's life expectancy).
5.) Slipstream :-) - I like driving in the slipstream of big 18 wheelers...not the safest affair to do - but helps with those MPGs :-)
