New Lexus GS 350 gets some muscle
CARMEL, CALIF.—To paraphrase Norma Desmond, the Lexus GS 350 is now ready for its close up.
You’d be forgiven for knowing little or nothing about this mid-sized rear-drive sedan — a quietly competent middle child in the Lexus fold that hasn’t sold well, was never particularly exciting and was most certainly not on the radar of those shopping for the BMW 5 Series, Audi A6 and Mercedes E-Class.
And yet this 2013 GS 350, which has received a major shot in the arm both stylistically and dynamically, is sent forth from camp Lexus to do battle with these Teutonic titans. In fact, Lexus is calling this fourth generation GS its halo car.
